Regaining Your Time by Moving From Obsession to Strategy
We should talk if your screen time report appears to be a full-time job but your business growth isn’t. Really.
I fell into the biggest trap when I first started working as a digitalpreneur with Belle Books: social media obsession.
I was constantly checking analytics, refreshing, and worrying about posting at the perfect time.
In reality, I was merely spinning my wheels, even though it felt like I was working nonstop.
It was not my social media that I was controlling, but my anxieties. I wasn’t refining my digital marketing strategy or summarizing more books at that time I was scrolling!
I needed to adjust my strategy. I had to become a strategic manager instead of an obsessive follower.
The Transition: From Intentional to Reactive.
Everything changed when I started using social media as a tool rather than a needy friend. “What is the strategic goal for this entire week?” became my new emphasis instead of “What should I post right now?”
Social media isn’t only for fun for a company that sells thousands of non-fiction ebooks and summaries; it’s also about establishing credibility and increasing traffic to the solution we provide.
The non-normative method of social media management that truly works and allows me to reclaim my weekends is as follows:
Gather Your Intelligence: I set up a single block of time for content creation, not five minutes here and there. I plan, write, and brainstorm all of my weekly posts and captions during that period. I no longer have to alternate between my “manager brain” and my “creator brain” several times a day thanks to this. When you’re a solo entrepreneur, efficiency is key!
The High-Value Funnel: We don’t post non-fiction content only for the sake of posting. Every piece of content, be it a quotation, a brief video, or a tip, is intended to direct readers to either my product page or my email list, which is my most valuable asset. I concentrate on a 90/10 split: 10% direct selling and 90% high-value suggestions. In addition to ensuring that my feed isn’t just one large advertisement, that soft selling strategy fosters trust.
Focus on the Deep, Not the Wide: I gave up on attempting to be active on all platforms. I selected the one or two platforms that my ideal reader—the astute, productive information seeker—frequents. That’s where I direct all of my efforts in social media management. Being fantastic on one platform is preferable to being mediocre on four.
Your social media presence begins to feel purposeful, polished, and eventually successful when you have a clear plan. Because each piece of content has a purpose, you post less, you experience less stress, and your engagement actually improves. That is the advantage of using social media as a tactical tool.
